These Little Piggies

Sarah is a ball of energy and life. She runs and tumbles and flips and dances, so if I want her to sit still for a few minutes I break out the Piggy Paint. She loves it and takes the drying time very seriously.

Weird Science

Last week's activities included a day trip to Science World...a certain little boy was eager to check out the Lego exhibit....

Gotta love Lego. BIG Lego.

Some other highlights...
Some busy beavers check out a dam!

A real Eagle talon. He got to tell me all kinds of facts about raptors. Thank you Wild Kratz - this was Liam's time to shine!

STAN, the second most complete T-Rex skeleton in the world. Liam was far less impressed than I would have thought. I kept reading blurbs off the display "Look at those holes in the skull...that's where another dinosaur BIT him!" And he would say "Yeah, I knew that." And "Yeah, I already knew that, too." Smarty pants.

And Sarah's favorite part of the day - chocolate milkshake! Pucker up, Buttercup!

This kind of looks like brain freeze, but in fact she has discovered that she can cross her eyes and Liam can't. She enjoys tormenting him with that little skill, so this is a face I am seeing a lot these days. I guess I should tell her it'll freeze that way?

Dinnertime Discoveries

Some of Liam's most insightful work happens over a meal. He had some toast and beans today. Here are my favorite gems from that meal:

"I just noticed something about bread. Bread is shaped like a bakers' hat, and it's bakers who make the bread." (You will never look at a slice of bread the same way now, will you?)

"This bean sandwich wasn't such a good idea. Beans are flying everywhere!" (And they were.)

Return of the S'more....

It's been a looooong, s'more-less winter for this little boy. And finally, we were back around the campfire this weekend. He waited ever so patiently all afternoon....

And finally....S'more Time....

Ah, Summer. We have missed you.

Spring Things

A few signs that Spring is in full swing around here....

There are vases full of fresh dandelions in the house every day. Good thing, because dandelions last about 8 gigaseconds before they wilt. Gross, but I'll never tire of the kids' proud faces as they present me with a huge "bouquet"!

Our farm balcony garden is thriving thanks to some very attentive watering by Liam and Sarah. They are often outside watering before breakfast (hence, the pj's!).

He even waters himself now and then.

We're especially excited for the peas to be ready. The kids love them (don't tell Liam they're the same as the ones he hates at dinner time!)....and they can even open the shells themselves this year!

We're lingering a lot longer at the playground when school gets out. Sarah has mastered the monkey bars....

And Liam has mastered writing his name in chalk.....

Our fence is also getting a fresh coat of rainbow chalk.

Now...bring on the camping!!!

Cheerleaders

They may not look like it here, but my two little monkeys were hanging off Matt's back and shoulders blowing me kisses and cheering "Go Mommy!" as I ran to the finish line of my first half marathon on Sunday.
They're a patient crew, putting up with my training schedule and hauling themselves all over town (and beyond!) at indecent hours, just to cheer me on. Thanks, guys. In Sarah's words: "You the best!"
